Jim Parton – books

Jim Parton, the owner, with his wife, of the palace at Piotrowice Nyskie is the author of several books.

The bestselling The Bucks Stop Here was his hilarious personal memoir of life as a reluctant stockbroker. It has recently been republished by

Praise for The Bucks Stop Here
"One of this year's funniest reads," - The Sunday Times
"Wonderful hilarity, far funnier and less pompous than Liar's Poker," - The Financial Times
"Parton is blessed with a lovely, comic turn of phrase and an accessible style reminiscent of Bill Bryson." - the Daily Mail
"At last a genuinely funny book about the City and the rise and fall of the roaring eighties. Brilliant. Buy, buy, buy."

His other books include a novel, Unreasonable Behaviour, about the experience of divorce and being single again, from a man's point of view. It's an antidote to all that chick-lit doing the rounds, like Bridget Jones.

With Trevor Jones he wrote Walking on Air. Trevor Jones may be the world's most disabled pilot, not to mention yachtsman.

In collaboration with Robbie Williams he wrote Let Me Entertain You. This was the first book Robbie did for his fans. From Jim's point of view, the best research moment was standing on stage next to Robbie's mum and Nicki from All Saints watching the crowd at Glastonbury go mad...
FAQ? What's Robbie like? Says Jim, "A monstrous talent, he can entertain you one to one, or hold an audience of 100,000."

Jim is currently working on an account of the restoration of the house at Piotrowice Nyskie, in the great tradition of books by Brits abroad, such as A Year in Provence or Driving on Lemons. He would love hear from anyone who can help him find a Polish publisher... (or, for that matter, a German and a Czech one).
